Reflection Statement:

The sculpture entitled Protecting My Peace was inspired by the emotions I am feeling in this stage of my life. My intent is to visually communicate the safeguarding of one's inner peace amidst life's challenges depicted through an umbrella and rain. The imagery symbolizes "my peace" being shielded from external factors, represented by the rain (beads) that disrupt tranquility. I wanted to focus on the colors and details of the banner because I wanted the emotional aspect of the art to come across strongly. I decided to make the color scheme brown and blue to reflect sadness but also calmness. The goal of this banner is to inspire one to prioritize themself and find calmness within, despite the negative that may surround them or effect them. I do not feel the work is lacking any details, I am very pleased with the composition and final details. This piece allowed me to explore working with beads, which adds so much beauty. The beads hang from the banner, so when it shakes it looks like it's raining. I want to keep exploring movement like this in future art pieces.
